  • Malaysia Approves Mini Hydropower Plants

Ingress-H2E Consortium has received approval from the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Mutimedia to implement mini hydropower generation in four locations in Peninsular Malaysia for a combined capacity of 8.4 MW. The consortium can now start the construction of plants, with an estimated project cost of RM45 million, within 24 months from January 27 2003, pending the submission of additional requirements.

  • Europe Wind Power Capacity up 33% in 2002

According to the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), Europe�s wind energy industry powered ahead last year, spending 5.8 billion euros to boost its generating capacity by 33%. EWEA figures showed Europe built 5,871 MW of new wind power generating capacity in 2001. The EU's total wind capacity stands at 23,000 MW, or 4% of total power generating capacity, according to the EWEA.
